I've read and talked to various people about this, I would like to know what or if there is a limit to compression when running all stock Chevy parts,I know you can use the mwm motor with the quest heads and have to be at 9.5-1, is that the same with factory parts? Thanks in advance

AFAIK WISSOTA does not limit compression unless you chose to run the EQ heads… www.wissota.org

Reading thru the Wissota street stock rules, there's a list of "not allowed" heads, and looks like it's all the 64cc chambered heads. Building a 355 with flat top pistons, with a .040" quench/squish distance (top of piston to deck of head), with the 76cc chambered heads you're only going to be about 9:1 static compression ratio. Unless you mill quite a bit off the heads you won't be over 9.5:1, I wouldn't want to mill the 76cc heads that far, they're pretty much all, if not all, the thin castings that are crack prone enough without thinnin' them more by excessive miling.

My engine guy routinely angle mills Vortec, 993, 882, 441 and other castings to achieve compression ratios in the 11.5-12.0 range with a zero deck. Seems to be pretty common around here from other builders, too. Race gas is in order of course.
Kinda funny when the streeters can run more squeeze than a b-mod….

But angle milling is specifically disallowed. Vortec heads are 64cc so they would be easier to reach those compression ratios, but they're not allowed either. 882's (with 76cc chambers) would have to shed 18 cc's, or more, to hit 11:1 with flat tops and a 0 decked block.

To me it's silly that these track and associations don't allow Vortec heads… readily available in the junkyard and a great head. But you can go run Dart's, EQ's, etc. Makes no sense...

yup but you can build all the compression trouble no mater whwt you do it is the damn restriction ofthe 500cfm carb or air flow that kills it all just like Nascar you can have 800 hp but with a restriction plate you only get what air can come through the intake dont overbuilt the motor

Just like to add a custom built camshaft will do more that 2 points of compression Mike Jones a great camshaft builder out of Carolina his dad built cams for Nascar Mike has a web site check you will have more corner off good luck

441 are older castings and are easily 67cc chambers with standard milling and a 0 deck and a 40th gasket make a good combo
