Does anyone have a good procedure to mount new upper a-arm mounts on my Camaro stubbed Super? I figure I'd mark where the old stock mounts are and use that as a guide. I'm re-stubbing the chassis… the old mounts were the splayed heim-style but I want to use a std. traditional upper arm this time… they seem to be a little stronger.

You might try this: remove your lower arm and slide a 1/2 steel rod through the mount holes. If it wont slide threw, grind out the hole that is off. You will weld a thick washer back in that spot to correct the alignment. So with the rod slid threw the lower mount holes and the frame set at ride height, place 2 framing squares on the floor and up against the rod. One forward and one aft, this will now allow you to place a straight edge on top of the frame and against the framing squares to pick up and duplicate the lower A arm angle exactly. Now that you have this line on top of the frame, you can measure from that line for your upper mount location, or duplicate the lower angle exactly if you choose. Not sure if I explained that well enough. Hope that helps.

Dave's suggestion works well if you want to get them in the same plane as the lowers. What I have noticed by doing it this way is, if there is a lot of compression, there will be caster change. The shorter upper travels in a tighter radius thus increasing caster through bump/compression. I hope I didn't confuse you any more.
The above suggestion is far better than nothing or stock and it can be done fairly easily. Either way, good luck.
Just take a little time and run everything through it's motions. Tack things together and try them before final welding is done. Makes it soooo much easier to change if needed.

Well both of those answers will help me if no one else… while I'm not re-stubbing I am changing the upper mounts on my chassis.
I bought some Right Foot upper a-arms from a pavement LM guy really cheap… going to make them work on my deal even though it will require a little time… I have a lot more of that than money these days.
