Is there a good way to check if rear-end tubes are straight without taking rear-end out and putting in jig. Thanks

If you put a straight edge on the end of each snout, then take measurement horizontally and vertically, front edge to back edge, and top to bottom, you can come real close.

Spin the tires to scribe a mark in the center of the tread to eliminate run-out (as though checking toe on front). Measure from one tire across to the other exactly on that mark. Rotate tires 1/4 turn, measure again IN THE SAME PLACE ON THE TIRE, rotate 1/4 measure, etc. until all four quadrants are measured. Look for variance which would indicate run-out and a corresponding bend.
Same process as a straight edge across the tube end (snout), but can be done without a helper or without taking hubs apart.

Okay, so what do you do if they're bent?
I have an article from the 1980s in Circle Track mag that says how to straighten using a torch to heat a spot on the tube to warp it back to center. You may find a similar article on the web.
I've also used a bottle jack and chains to bend straight again.
