I sold my tandem axle trailer last spring. It was a nice 14' with brackets for a single row tire rack (missing in action). Well built from 2X4 tubing, fresh tires, etc. I had gotten a real deal on it a year earlier and it worked really well the few times I used it. But I needed some extra cash and doubling my $$$ was hard to turn down.
So I was in the planning stages of building an old school trailer to haul my new car. I called a friend of mine who has an old modified (coupe style) that he hauls with a vintage single axle trailer. So I wanted to get another look at it for some ideas so I headed down to his shop to take a peek at it and get some photos.
While I was there he mentioned that his buddy has the bones of a single axle trailer that got hit from behind and was parked behind his shop. So off we went. What I found was a very nicely professionally built single axle trailer that was built to haul a wheeled concrete saw like those used on highway projects and construction jobs (about 3,000 lbs.). It's perfect from the axle forward… the rear clip needs to be replaced… 4X4 tubing. Turns out I have about 30' of heavy wall 4x4 tubing in stock.
It has six bolt wheels, heavy duty tires, a 5,000 lb. axle and a nice little toolbox with a spare tire bolted to the top. It's 80" between the fenders. Electric brakes and a 2 5/8" adjustable hitch. I'll have to stretch it out a bit and move that axle back but it should tow pretty good behind my F-350 dually. I bought the trailer for $150.00.
Here's a few pix… can't see much thru the weeds but I'll post a few more when I get it back home...
